I don't think so. Just because someone is smart enough to graduate does not mean that they have the maturity to be out in the world that young.

I think so. If they have showed they can pass all of the classes needed to graduate then i believe they should be able to. I dont think they will be mature enough or be ready to be on their own, but academically they are ready for college courses.

I say no, because high school prepares them for life and if they leave early they won't be mature enough to handle situations in college that they would have learned while attending high school, yes they may be smarter than other and smart enough to be in college but their maturity level might not be that of a college student.

I agree with travis. I don't think they would be mature enough for the real world. but i think they should be able to graduate and take college class's. i don't think they would be emotionally mature enough to handle many of the things that they could with two more years of experience under their belts. but i believe if they are that smart then you shouldn't limit there education.

YES!.... I for one am totally up for early graduation. I am not going to limit someones intelligence by their age. I do not know about the rest of the world, but i know that I personally would love to graduate early. If i could graduate with this great class of seniors (wink wink) instead of my "immature" class, i would in a heartbeat. I do not know others opinions, but i feel like i personally am mature enough to attend university at this time in my life. The question says after 10th grade. So that leaves 11th grade or half way through 12th. I do believe the majority of juniors and seniors are capable of being a functioning member of society and a graduate at this time of their life. If they have the grades, and the drive to earn the credits faster then others, they should be able to graduate early.7483

I think that if the person has enough education and the right classes and is clearly ready to graduate, then yes, they should be able to graduate early.

Why not? If someone can show they are intelligent enough and mature enough to set out into the "real world" then let them. Not ALL tenth graders are mature enough, but there are SOME that actually "grow up." Age really has no matter in how mature and intelligent you are. It's just a number when it comes to this subject.

I think that they should be able to graduate after the tenth grade as long as they have the grades and classes they need to be able to graduate.

if they graduate after 10th grade, that means only 2 years earlier,i would say yes, because academically they are good enough for the college, so why need them to waste two more years to learn what they already know? but by the way, i don't agree kids graduate TOO early,in Hong Kong, we have a kid only 9 years old, but he passed all the test, and academically ready for the university, and his parents agree him graduated from primary school and become the youngest person to go to the university in HK. Now he has been in university almost a year, and his father be interview by some media lately, he said his son dosen't have childhood. i think it was pretty sad.

well, i wish i could have graduated 2 years ago! but then again i don't. besides being immature and probably not ready for the "real world", by leaving high school early you would miss out on a lot. i think it is awesome being a senior, and i don't think i would have liked to skip it. but in other people's cases it might be better for them. it really depends on who you are and if you are capable.

I believe that any kid who has earned their right to graduate early should be able to, given they have the credits to do so. As a country we could save up to 60 billion dollars a year with early graduation. This money could be used on early childhood classes and enrich your education at an earlier age.

i think if they have passed the required courses to graduate it dosent really matter if its their sophmore year or their senior year, it should be their choice if they are smart enough to pass all required classes and credits

Erika G said...

I believe if they have passed their required classes and are ready to move on to the next level of education we shouldn't hold them back. However, they may not ready to be out on their own at such a young age but their are ways to take college courses online at home so yes I do believe kids should have the rights to graduate early.

i think that certain students should be able to graduate early, but they need to be pretty advanced in order to graduate after their sophomore year, and this would be a select few of students maybe one every couple of years, but if they have completed everything they need to and are ready for college then i don't see why not.

esam said...

If they have passed all their requirments that you need for graduation i belive that if they want to move on in harder courses and know what they want to do then let them they have been prepared for it so they would do just find. I belive that they are mature enough because if they are not they will get mature enought fast enough thtought the professers and all the other students. Even if you graduate at grade 12 there are still those students that are still emature. so mature and emature should have nothing to do with them graduating early.

danielle said...

Yes, they should be able to graduate. There is no sense in them staying in school to learn things they already know. Their family and themselves should be able to tell what is in their best interest and whether they are ready to go out in the world or not.

Sallad said...

I say why not. If the kid is obviously academically ready to graduate then why not let him/her. The maturity thing is on a kid to kid basis. and in the case the kid is ready then let them go to college if not let them graduate but only let them take courses online.

I think early graduation is a great idea. If a student is educationally prepared for college, which is high schools whole purpose, then that student should be allowed to move foward instead of being held back and stealing time from their potential. As for a student being mature enough, I have met sophomores that are more mature and ready to be in college than some college students, I don't think age should determine someone's readiness to complete college level curriculum. I know if I were a student I would be excited about this, knowing that I could get a two year head start on my future if I was ready would not only boost the workforce, but we could better compete with foreign contries and regain our status as #1 in education.

I think that yes they should be able to graduate early. i mean why not? if they have all the classes that they are required to take and they got good grades then they are plenty ready to go off on to college.

Hollie said...

I think if the student has completed all the classes needed to graduate, than they should be allowed to graduate and move on to college courses.

Clay Schilling said...

I do think a person should be able to graduate early if they are smart enough and pass the required classes. This person may not be mentally mature enough to handle living on their own in college but there are also a lot of 18 year olds who are not mature enough to live on their own either.

Matt said...

Yes they should. They completed the classes and proven they can handle what college throws at them for most cases. I have a freind who has and is far better off in my opion, he knew the material, he was mature enough to graduate and is now mature enough to handle the world. Besides if they did graduate early, arent they smart enough to know how to ask for help if they need it out in the big bad world.

tator said...

Yes you should be able to Graduate early. Do what you want to do dont be locked up at school, get out and start your own life.

Devin Mangus said...

No, a student might be ready to graduate with proper credits and such, but look how much more a senior has matured compared to a sophomore. Today I am much more prepared in several ways than 2 years ago: having more work experience, more personal experience, and more "common sense" experience. Many years ago kids WERE able to graduate at an earlier age, but look at how much life has changed since then...back then they worked harder and many needed to get out of school to get into the field behind a horse. Times have changed were we need to be prepared not only with book smarts, but have the maturity to deal with LIFE, not a book!!!

i think that they shouldn't be able to. they have not learned everything they need and can only get from high school. they would not be able to handle a full time job and still live a good life they have not completly devopled into who they want to be or well be.

I think that if a student is smart enough, while in tenth grade, to take senior and even college classes he should be allowed to graduate. The problem with this is that students at this age aren't probably mature enough to attend a high level university and to be out i the real world. Also i really don't think that the parents would allow their sons and daughters to leave their home for school at such a young age.

Bryan G. said...

Yes, if they have received their credits then they should get to move on to a higher education. They are obviously smart enough to complete higher level classes that require higher level thinking skills. I think that most of the time a kid who completes classes intended for higher years of school is as mature as the other kids taking those courses. I believe this because of a thirteen year old sophmore I know named Ellen, and Ben Waugh, I know that is only two examples but I do not know any that are going to be eligible to graduate early that are not ready to move on with their lives.

Taylor said...

i believe they should. if they prove their intelligence they should be allowed to graduate. a person should never be held back from being all they can be.

I believe that a person should not graduate after the 10th grade, I do not believe they have the maturity of an 18 year old. But I do believe if they put in the hard work that they can graduate after their junior year. I think that most students by the end of their junior have the maturity to attend college.

I still don't believe age has anything to do with this.. I don't get why people think age has to do with how mature you are. You could be 10 and be as mature as a 20 year old. It all depends on your life situations, be it home or social.

Michelle said...

I agree. age has nothing to do with this. Heck there are some seniors that aren't mature enough to graduate. I believe that having the option to graduate early is a good idea. Although the final decision should be up to the kid.

Chelsie Gausman said...

I think if a person is intelligent enough to graduate early, all the power to them. They could end up being the person to find the cure for cancer, so why hold them back? That's 2 more years of research they could be doing in college or in their life rather than staying in high school. Besides, getting to college would be alot better for their education anyway...I'm sure they will learn more. But coming from me, I wouldn't want to skip out on my senior year of high school, you only have it once, and you can't go back...so live it up!!

Keegan said...

i think they should be allowed to and if a student is capable of graduating early obviously they are or more mature than some seniors

Brennen Clouse said...

Yes, but this is something that is kind of already taking place in my opinion. Career and Technical Education, or Tech Colleges and Community Colleges in other words, are something being offered in our own high schools. It is rewarding to see that some states have finally realized how important CTE is and started to utilize it more. By graduating students early we will create more workers and strengthen our economy, less outsourcing! Our misconception, as students, is that we MUST go to a university or four year school after high school. In reality, this is false. Some students only need the skills they must have in order to succeed in the career path that they choose. CTE will give students this. Our world is very fast-paced and the education system needs to catch up with that!

Anonymous said...

Good comment Bren! :) I think early graduation is great. If I were to look back last year... I would rather see Ben graduate as a 10th grader than some of the seniors that did. Maturity level is a big thing and if you're ready, I'm sure your parents would allow it. Just as Brennen said, CTE is vital and we do need to learn to utilize it better to benefit from it in the way that it should be. If we did, we could be having a greater quantity of people going out into the work force; leading to more jobs, workers, and a better economy!

I think that if they are ready to graduate and have completed all the courses they need then they should be able to graduate. But just because they are graduating from school early doesn't mean they are mature enough or ready to be on their own.

Brooke said...

Yeah if they feel they are ready and they have the intelligence level needed to attend college. This will however result in a faster maturity for those who attend college sooner.

Nelson said...

i think you should enjoy your time in high school. and not rush into the world just because you can.

starzz said...

i think that it's not a horrible idea, but i dont think that its the best either. if they are that smart and that dedicated to their work, obviously they are mature enough to do college work, some people mature faster than others, and you shouldn't hold them back from doing what they can do.

Whitney said...

Yes, I think if the person passed all their classes, they earned the right to graduate. I don't think kids at this age are mature enough to go out on their own, but if they earn it i guess they should be able to graduate.

Cassie said...

if they are smart and have all they credit done then i would say yes they can

justin said...

I think if they are smart enough to past high school they can take college classes but yet they wont have the maturity to handle being out in the real world they could start taking college classes online while still going to that highs school in which they could stay in high school and and become more mature but also challenge there selves.
