Should Roe v. Wade be repealed?

I think they should have a repeal. But only for this reason, everybody deserves a second chance. Who are we to say who deserves a second chance and who doesn't. If we done that we would be breaking there freedom in this country. Everybody just should have a second chance. I would want for someone to give me a second chance. We should just give everybody the chance that we would want or deserve. So what I mean is to treat the people with some equality. They need things as much as we would. We need treat everybody as we would want to be treated. Treat the people with respect and they will respect you. You need to have trust in people for them to have trust in you. They have the same feelings as anyone else. So I guess what I am trying to say is that you should give them the respect that you would want them to have for you.

I don't believe Roe v. Wade should be repealed, but should be changed a bit. There are some cases in which an abortion would be needed, such as a baby that would be born a still-born (if they could already tell) or in cases of rape, etc. Women should not be able to abort their babies just because they do not want them, and other method's like adoption are less inhumane.

Anonymous said...

Yes, it should. No one has the right to say a person shouldn't have the right to life just because they're defenseless. If that's true than it's free game on infants and toddlers.

It's absurd to say that the baby is a blob of tissue and not a baby. Scientifically we know that at the moment of conception a new person is created. It begins releasing hormones that are distinctively human.

The argument that "it's my body, I can do what I want" is pointless as well. An embryo is not a part of her body. It's within the body but not part of it. It has a body of its own. No one should be permitted to have an abortion except under one condition: if a pregnant woman has a deadly disease or cancer and it's not likely she can carry the baby to term without risking her own life. This is the ONLY time it is permissible to have an abortion.

Sallad said...

it should not be repealed. there might be more humane ways to take care of an "un-wanted" baby such as adoption.(which could be debated on whether or not that is more humane). some situations would be better than others to get an abortion, but that is for the woman to decide. she knows how the baby will grow up and how good or bad its life will be

Shayla Matthews said...

I think abortion is wrong, obviously. But in ways I do believe a women should have a choice (depending the situation) if she wants to keep it or not... but if a women is pregnant and it's been a couple of months and she decides to get one, I think that's wrong because the baby has already started to develop... one other thing i think is wrong is when a girl/women goes around with all these guys and gets abortions just because she can't handle herself, that's not right. it's not the baby's fault the women cant be more responsible with her actions ..People need to be more careful if they don't want to have babies, that way you won't have to kill an innocent baby..I really can't decide if i think this should be repealed or not :/

natashia said...

I’m not sure if it should be repealed or not. I do not think abortion is right for all situations. I think there should be strict rules and limitations on abortion. I do not think its right for women to have the option to get rid of their baby just because it doesn’t fit their life. They should have thought of that before they made the decision to have sex. If someone is raped or there is danger for the mother or the child I think then abortion would be an option.

rory"baseball"kling said...

I dont know if it should be repealed or not, but i do think that the mother does have a choice if she wants to have an abortion, but at the same time i dont think that it is right to just kill a baby because you cant live with it. Unless you are physically or mentally incapable of supporting a child, or you were raped, etc. then i think that abortion could be a consideration, but you could also have the child and put it up for adoption. I guess it's more up to the parent to decide what they would like for the child.

esam said...

I do not belive in abortion at all it is not right one bit the baby never did anything wrong to deserve to be KILLED!!! we were once in are mothers womb and we were alive and moving which makes the baby a human being just like us, their is adoptions if you do not want to keep the baby, give you kid to someone that can't have them! Even if you were raped and got pregnat killing the baby is NOT going to take the feeling or the pain away! it is not the babys fault!!!!! Don't kill them for other peoples mistakes its not right!!! So no abortion should not be aloud!

Clay Schilling said...

Now this is a very complicated issue but i do believe that abortion has birth control is very wrong. Now abortion can be used as a life saving technique for the mother and this is when abortion could be utilized in a positive light.

Andrew said...

i have mixed feelings on abortion i think it is wrong in some cases and alright in others, but its wrong most of the time in my opinion. but its really not my choice, its for the women to decide if they would want to kill there baby or not. a guy will never have the final word in an abortion anyway so its really not a question that conserns guys as much as it does women.

Devin Mangus said...

I believe that we should not repeal the Roe vs. Wade decision. I believe that we must have abortion for the small percent of women who actually need it. I do not agree with abortion when used because a man and woman were careless. I agree only when a woman's life and childs well-being is at risk, those women that absolutely need it should have it, or they might have to go to lengths of going to someone not certified or uncapable of performing the task, and I certainly would not want that for any woman. I solely believe it is the woman's decision and hers alone. I will accept whatever they choose.

Matt said...

I dont beleive it should be repealed. i beleive unless there is do cause such as rape or another horrible case in which the woman becomes pregnat then yes, she needs an abortion. Other than that, well, its the womans choice, i dont like abortion, but i support the womans choice to have it. Frankly i believe they should have the child, they messed up, its their responsibility now, thats the price.

Shelbi said...

I believe that Roe v. Wade is a very difficult decision on repealing or not. I find it hard to decide at times if I am for or against abortion. Like if a woman were to get raped, I believe it would be very hard to have a baby due to the fact that it is unwanted. But I also see where people are saying put the baby up for adoption. Why should an innocent human being have to suffer? It is a very difficult topic for me to discuss just because I can see both views. I am choosing to not answer the question due to this fact.

Anonymous said...

Okay, not sure what Keith was talking about...

I just want to point out that those who say we shouldn't repeal Roe v. Wade should realize that Roe v. Wade allows widespread abortion. Repealing it would be putting a lot of limits on it which it definitely needs. That doesn't mean that someone who needed it wouldn't be able to get it, but it would prevent someone from getting one just because they couldn't keep their pants up.

To those who think that a guy shouldn't have a say in an abortion I have to question you on this. I would accept that I have no say in an abortion because I'm a guy if women could reproduce asexually. But the fact is that they don't. It takes two to make a baby and a man should have a say whether his flesh and blood should be murdered in the womb. I find it so ironic that no man can have a say in an abortion yet if that baby is carried to term, he automatically has to pay 18 years of child support and sometimes legally forced to father the child. A double standard maybe?

Hector said...

i agree with rory's comment. i believe that the mother should have a choice in the matter, and like he said the mother should be allowed to do it if their were raped or is mentally unstable. i don't believe that the state should tell a mother to abort or not, it should be her choice.

Travis said...

I dont think that abortion should be allowed if the reason for using it is just because you dont want a baby. I think that i agree with abortion if the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother. I dont know if the court case should be repealed or no. I think that it just depends on who you are and what you believe.

Sallad said...

i would also like to add that i personally don't agree with abortion, and i don't want my future wife or anyone i know to have one. but the basic fact is that i have no right to force my beliefs on someone else. if a woman thinks that it is ok then that is her choice not mine or ANYONE elses

Anonymous said...

So Dallas, what if I wanted to murder someone? I have the choice to do it. Let's say I murder someone. I will be tried in court. But I could argue that they're forcing their beliefs on me. This won't work here. So why would it work when it comes to abortion?

I am against abortion because that thing in the woman's womb is a human being. It deserves to be protected from being murdered just as someone I wanted to kill should be protected from being murdered. Today the most dangerous place in the world to be is in the womb. That's not right at all.

danielle said...

I believe in a strict interpretation of the constitution and that goes for a persons right to privacy. If a woman decides to get an abortion for whatever reason, then thats her choice. It is her business and nobody else has to know about it.

Michelle said...

i believe that roe v. wade should not be repealed. I believe this is a right of privacy for the woman. Although i do believe that after a certain amount of time that it should be not allowed because the baby has already started to develop. Yes, there are other more humane ways to do this, but actually if you take time to look at it adoption is not exactly better. By putting a child into adoption, there's a risk that this child will not be adopted and grow up feeling unwanted. I believe that Roe v. Wade was a good decision, and that if a woman wants to have an abortion they should be allowed to get one.

justin said...

i think that it should not be repealed. i think the only way that is that is a horrible case like if the woman was rape, or some other horrible thing.

Unknown said...

i believe no one should have the right to tell a woman what they should do with THEIR baby, its THEIR choice.

Duell said...

idk if it should be repealed or not but i think that the mother and the father should have a choice of what they want to do. there should be rules about it to and stuff that you would have to qualify for to have a abortion.

Ben Waugh said...

i do not know what to think on this issue. I just literally fought a me against my mom, and sister fight on this issue. I find Roe V. Wade a bench law. It should be up to the States, but i think this would be to big an issue for a State to handle. It would end up right back in the Supreme Court, and then end up in another situation like this. The answer would be to make an amendment, but that will not happen. There will never be an Abortion Amendment to the constitution. The best solution to this is leave it as is. It totally sucks as a "ruling" and is not a good judicial act, but it is the best we will have. It is almost pointless to repeal it. The best solution is to amend the ruling To establish specific rulings on the issue. This is a rock and hard place. To repeal it is to just eliminate it for a short time. To not repeal it will make many mad.

Ben Waugh said...

To tell the truth, i feel as a guy this is not my decision to make it is a moral decision, but it is up to women to decide!

Hollie said...

Well I think that the mother has a right to an abortion to a certain point. Meaning that before the baby actually becomes a living thing inside the mother with a heart beat, the mother has the right to an abortion.. But after that I think that the mother can no longer have an abortion unless the mothers life is in danger. So...I am completely against abortion but I understand the exceptions. I am neither for repealing the ruling or against the ruling.

Jace Mosbarger said...

I do not think the case should be repealed and i think abortion is a neccasary option for women who have been raped. If it was my wife that got impregnated in a parking lot by some stanger who raped her, then i think it is totally dumb to say she must carry on the tramatic stress of carrying and birthing a child. And don't even begin to compare it to murding a born small child...you cant compare apples and oranges so quit having such a radical view when your not even using ur head in what your thinking

yes, it believe that it should. not just because i do not support abortion, but because it should be the states' decision to decide whether or not abortion is legal, not the supreme court.

it depends on the circumstances whether or not you should have an abortion it is the persons choice if they want to or not adoption is an option.

Sallad said...

Brad, the real argument we have going right now is whether or not a fetus is a "person". i don't believe it is. and you do. but that is the beauty of this country we can have our different views. i would never try to make your future wife get an abortion. nor should you try to make a, sometimes necessary procedure, un-available to other women.

Kenz said...

myself personally, i am totally against abortion, i believe if you are ready to have sex then you need to be ready for the possiblity of having a child. but for me to try and take away the rights of other womens' decision is wrong. I do believe abortion is wrong, but i wouldnt call it murder, but i also think that abortion should not be an option for everyone, just the women who have been raped or someother reason along the lines of that. so i guess i really dont know if roe v. wade should be repealed or not!

Anonymous said...

I think abortion is very wrong. If I had to make the decision, I would never have an abortion. Even if my life was at risk, or the baby's. There is a reason for everything and I believe God makes it that way for us. If it's not my time to die, I'll make it through.

If a woman is in a situation dealing with incest or rape, adoption is the way to go (in my eyes) because there is always someone looking to adopt. And of course, abortion in the form of birth control is hands down...wrong.
I have a hard time dealing with the fact of killing a baby even if they are just inside of me. It is so cruel and I don't think I could ever live with myself. I agree with Brad when he uses the example of an actual embryo.

Nelson said...

I dont know if it should be repealed or not. but i think the mother should have a choice.

Cassie said...

If you are raped you should have the right to have an abortion. But also i think if you are with the one you love, you should keep the baby.

Nelson said...

I also forgot to say one thing... although I think an abortion is very very wrong.. I don't think we will ever come to a consensus so I don't think it will ever be repealed.

Melissa said...

Abortion is a dirty dirty word and the only time an abortion should happen is if the mommy's life is in danger. I mean it's not fair that a chick can go out and spread her legs and then decide "wait..I don't want to get fat!!" And get an abortion. So yea, and plus most women who get an abortion are more likely to get another so don't do it.

Crystal C said...

well,,i don't know they should or should not repeal Roe v. Wade decision. first of all, i have to clarify that i know having abortion is really wrong and ruthless, and i total disagree women having abortion because they don't want to have a baby or a man and woman were just defenseless, it is not a reason for abortion.i think the only reason for abortion is the women were raped or the doctors told them their fetus was abnormal and it will endanger mother's life. so i don't have an exactly idea of should repeal or shouldn't repeal Roe v. Wade because it depend on different situations.

Kenz said...

i also think that the females should not have the whole decision about getting an abortion or not. what if a couple is together and the girl gets pregnant but then decides that she doesnt want to be with the guy or have a child, but on the other end the guy that got the girl pregnant would like to be a single father and take care of that child but she decides to get an abortion. if somehow they went through a court system and made the pregnant woman have the child but already have the custody rights to the father before the child is even born. so i do NOT think that it should just be up to the woman.

Erika G said...

I do not believe abortion is right, but I do believe in certain cases a woman should have the choice on what she wants to do. In the end she has to live with the consequences of the choice she made at that time.

natashia said...

I agree with Kendra. The guy is just as responsible for the child as the woman and he should have a say in it.

Anonymous said...

i am really aginst abortion so it should be repealed because if your going to take the chance in doing the act of possibly reproducing then you should pay the price of your actions, and both people involved should have equal responsibility for the infant and it is still a human and deserves a chance to live its life, it shouldnt be rejected before it even knows anything of the world

Whitney said...

I agree with Courtney a lot on this. It's hard to say weather Roe v. Wade should be repealed or not, but I think abortion is very wrong if girls are just out there using it as a birth control. If a girl has been raped it probably should be her choice whether she keeps it or not. Personally I think adoption is the better choice though.

starzz said...

I believe that abortion is absolutely inexcusable in MOST cases, there are a few situations that women or girls can be in, that would make it not okay, but a choice she would have to make on her own. I'm not trying to offend anyone in anyway by saying this, but if a girl is bearing a child from a man that rapped her, then she should be able to choose if she wants an abortion. Now i know that she could give it up for adoption, and there are a lot of couples that want kids, but can't have them, but there are so many kids up for adoption, that have been in foster homes and group homes all they're lives and may not ever BE adopted, this makes me sad, and think about things differently. Also if it is necessary for a woman to have an abortion because the birthing of the child could be life threatening for her and/or the child both, then I believe that she should be able to choose to have an abortion.

I'm not for abortion, but i think that it should be the woman's choice in SOME cases, therefore i believe that it shouldn't be repealed, but changed in a few ways as to being able to have an abortion when it is necessary.

Dallas, I disagree strongly with your viewpoint. This subject goes beyond religious or political belief. It is a scientific fact that life begins at conception. And yet we see those who stand for abortion with their hands over their ears saying "Lalalalalala I can't hear you!" because the truth is too ghastly and horrifying for them to own up to. Have you ever seen a picture of an aborted child at 7 weeks? It already has human features such as a face, hands, legs, feet, a skeleton, a beating heart. This person is human. To try to claim that it's anything else is absolutely absurd.

To those who think abortions should be restricted to early in the pregnancy before the baby "starts developing," I have a question for you: When does the fetus begin to develop? It begins at conception. It's not like the zygote sits there for several weeks and then begins to develop.

erica fenner said...

i don't believe in abortions. the baby didn't have a choice in whether or not it wanted to live. if you don't want to keep the baby you could always give it up for adoption. but i also don't think that the state should have a say in whether you should keep it or not.

Brooke said...

I don't agree with abortion...but I also don't agree with taking a women's freedom away on whether or not she wants to have a baby. I think abortion should be left up to the states to decide. Because there are certain cases where abortions are needed, and only under certain circumstances should it be allowed...

rome said...

i think that the women should have a right to decide if they want to have a child. The reason why i believe this is because if a young women has a child then they're already setting themselves up for failure, in most cases that is. Then another way you can look at it is if a women gets raped and they become pregnant, they should have the complete no hands down choice on how they decide which way they want to go with it. And then if a women has had abortions in the past, and they bring it in themselves they shouldn't be allowed to have another one. I don't agree with The Federal Government or even the State making a decision on the Abortion Ordeal, so I believe they should reason every case and decide and let the women plead her case on how she needs an abortion.

Patrick said...

i think that it is a womans choice whether to have an abortion or not because she is the one who has to live with the consequences for the rest of her life...no one should be able to tell her what to do but she should have a really good reason to get an abortion...she should not be able to run out get pregnant then turn around and get an abortion

I think Roe vs. Wade should be repealed. My reasoning for this is because there are many women out there that try to have children and their bodies just won't allow them to. So when women give up a child just because they don't want, is wrong. Plus it is a creation of God that you are destroying. Even though there are sometimes you have to kill the baby, like when it's an emergency, say it's causing pain for the mother or a life or death situation. Other wise you should have the baby and give it up for adoption. I think!

I agree with courtney on this, i dont agree with abortion at all. Although brennen had a good point .. saying no matter what laws we set, if women want to abort, they will somehow find an unsafe way

Anonymous said...

So let's talk about Brennen's point. If abortion was to become illegal, what about those would get abortions done in back alleys? That's just an unwanted circumstance. Let's compare this with something else. Drugs are illegal. Does that mean that everyone will stay away from drugs? No, we know that there are still people who do drugs. Does that mean we should just make the legal? No. It's the same with abortion. Just because a few people would still get abortions or give themselves abortions is no reason to not make abortion illegal.

Freeman said...

My opinion on the matter is that it should not be repealed. it is a woman's right to be able to choose whether or not to have an abortion and it shouldn't be of anybody else's concern. every woman has a different opinion on the matter and it is their right to choose which one they do.

Chelsie Gausman said...

I don't remember who said it...but I believe that Roe vs. Wade won't ever be repealed because the nation won't ever come to a consensus. I am pro-choice...and don't attack me on it...but I accept a mother's choice and I think it is up to the woman to decide. I also agree with many of you who stated that under certain circumstances abortion should definately be illegal. And to add one more thing today in discussion a good point was brought up that even if Roe vs. Wade is repealed, people of the U.S. are still going to find ways around the law and have non-sterile abortions anyway. So if you think about it, it might be better to have a certified DOCTOR do it for you, instead of an unsafe method.

Brennen Clouse said...

If the issue is privacy, then I don't think it should be repealed because people's right of privacy must be protected. Yes, revisions may need to be made but everyone should have the right to their own privacy.

kirsten dutton said...

I believe Roe v. Wade should be revised, in some cases i think it is ok to abort the baby. Starla had a good point about if a father or say an uncle raped a girl should she have to keep the baby? I think the decision of aborting should be up to the girl in this case. I also think that if having the baby dangers the mother's life then abortion might be necessary.

I wish in some way abortion could be legal for cases like these but then not allowed to other "careless" cases.

little n.b. said...

I think it should stay the way it is because its the womans right. You cant take the womans right away. someone asked during cass "how could you live with yourself if you did that?". you have to understand that if you dont think you could live with yourself then dont do it. the act is not telling you that you have to have an abortion, its giving you an option.

Tanner said...

I believe that Roe vs. Wade should be repealed. I do not think that this would be a violation of any right to privacy. I believe that abortion in extremely wrong in a form of birth control. I also want to say that if a woman was raped she should not get an abortion. The unimaginable pain would be there I know, but how could you punish the baby for what an evil man did. If your going to kill someone kill the rapist. I believe that a woman should have the choice if the pregnancy is threatening her life in a very real way, but even then she should consider for a very long time how important the new life of this child. So I believe abortion is wrong in all cases and God will work out the hard ones, but i am willing to say that the woman should have the choice if her life is in terrible danger.

Brianna said...

Okay this is about to be the longest blog entry ever typed...

There is alot of components to cover when it comes to this topic. From when life begins, to certain circumstances to consider, and to whose decision it is. But i'll get to all of them sooner or later, hopefully.

1.) When does life begin?
Many answers have been offered to the question, and it is one that does not posses a simple answer. It ultimately depends upon opinion, religion, science, ect. But here is how I look at it. This is taken from a science viewpoint, my advance biology notes from last year actually...to be considered a living thing, science says five criteria must be met (all of them).
1 - Composed of cells, yes babies are composed of cells.
2 - Must grow and develop, The zygote divides many times to form a ball of identical, undifferentiated cells. These embryonic stem cells will begin to change or differentiate to become specific cell types, so when that transition takes place, yes babies grow and develop.
3 - Respond to their environment, babies must first be able to react to stimuli to be considered living things...babies nervous systems (brain, spinal cord) begin to develop at 4 weeks, and at 10 weeks neurons begin to develop rapidly. So before that point, the fetus cannot feel anything or think anything, so there for it cannot respond to stimuli before that point.
4 - Must obtain and use energy, this is debateable, but the fetus creates the placenta after implantation, so yes, it does obtain and use energy (STRICTLY FROM THE MOTHER that is).
5 - It must be able to reproduce, sorry but a fetus is not able to reproduce, so therefore it does not meet every criteria.

In my personal opinion, abortion should be outlawed after 10 weeks, before then no neurons are present, so basically it is a mass of certain cells not able to feel or comprehend anything. To me, personally, life begins when neurons are intact.

On to my next rambling point...
How are we to distinguish between unlawful forced abortion and a natural miscarriage? Are we to put in jail women who are already devasted at their incapacity to carry a child? How is there a way to tell? There isn't my friends. SO basically if abortion is outlawed I'm sure our justice system will put some poor woman who lost her baby by her body's choice in the slammer, real smart. So before you go outlawing abortion, make sure you can get that straightened out.

Also, another point to bring up. If a women really doesn't want to have a child, she will find a way not to. It is not rocket science to know that when someone doesn't want to do something they most likely will not. So how do you catch the women who do unlawful forced abortions? Put secret cameras up everywhere? Not so much.

And last but not least...
Under what circumstances should abortion be legal and under what circumstances should it be illegal?
Legal - Rape, Incest, Health reasons, and what about people who DO take contraceptives to prevent the unwanted?
Rape. No women who has been forced to have sex against her will should have to deal with a pregnancy stemming from that incient. Sorry, but who really wants to be born knowing your dad raped your mom and thats why your here? If you would like that life your sick. Isn't it enough what the women has already traumatically endured? A women who has been raped should in no way have to bear and give birth to a child because of it. And yeah know someone can lie about that, so before they outlaw abortion, they better be ready to deal with that situation.
Incest. No women, child, daughter, sister, aunt, mom, grandma, ANYONE should have to have a child because of incest. If the child is your brother and son at the same time, then that is a validated reason for an abortion. Once again lying is a possibility and once again before abortion is outlawed it must be adressed.
Health reasons. Your religion plays a large role here. You might be able to tell I practice briannaism, and in briannaism it says being ignostic is fine. So, in my point of view, if your life is in any way at risk, it is the womens sole choice as to whether or not she get an abortion. If you beleive in God on the other hand, I can see where your coming from also and I'm all for you sticking up for what you beleive in, but also see where I am coming from...I don't push what I beleive on anyone else, and I think I deserve the same respect. So before you tell me I'm going to hell for being a non-beleiver, remember, I don't beleive in hell in the first place.
Contraceptive failure. I beleive that if someone is taking the nessesary lengths and procedures to prevent an unwanted pregnancy, they should have an option as to whether or not to abort the pregnancy. Once again, my own opinion. Now on the other hand, women that use abortion AS a form of birth control should have weights tied to their feet and thrown into the ocean, once again, my own opinion.

As for mine and brads altercation as to whether the man has a choice in the matter, SOME, not all, but SOME men are not worthy of having their own child. Deadbeat dads. Having first hand experience on this matter I myslef wish my father was aborted, yeah I wouldnt be here, but that would be one less child who would have to grow up with the pains of rejection from 1/2 of their genetic makeup. So, men, I beleive should have less say than women, because they are not altered and on occasion do not commit to what it is they have created anyways. Single mothers are prominent members of society now, and if a man wants a say in his child, he should have to step up to the plate. They may have to pay child support, but often some do not, so that is not a vaild reason as to why they have a say.I'm sure many disagree with me and thats fine im just telling my veiw from the side of life I've lived.

Okay, I'm done, my brain hurts, and Mr. Witman I better get an A for this.

Brianna said...

Okay I forgot something. I know your sitting there thinking how could she have forgotten anything with an entry that size, but I didn't answer the question, and to make sure I don't make anyone mad because I didn't answer the question as it was typed, my answer is it should not be repealed, but items changed, the age from the first trimester to strictly ten weeks, and abortion MUST be monitored more closely, and if it is changed, the changes to it must also be enforced and monitored. I do not belive in abortion at all it is not right. Now abortion can be used as a life saving technique for the mother and this is when abortion could be utilized in a positive light.

I have mixed feelings against abortion. There are certain reasons on why it should be repealed and why it shouldnt. I dont agree that abortion should be used as a contraceptive. They should have the baby and put it up for adoption. But I do believe that it should be repealed in the case that if a woman was to be raped and became pregnant they should have the choice to have an abortion because if the baby was not meant to be there then it shouldnt!

It shouldn't be repelled because women have a right to there own bodies and there own choice.
